A mechanic was removing the cylinder head from the motor of a Harley motorcycle when he spotted a well-known heart surgeon in his shop. The surgeon was waiting for the service manager to take a look at his bike.
一个修理工正在从一辆哈雷摩托上拆卸汽缸，一个著名的外科医生引起了他的注意。那个外科医生正在等待客服经理检查他的自行车。

The mechanic called out across the garage, "Hey, Doc, can I ask you a question?"
修理工隔着车库喊道：“嗨，医生，我能问你一个问题吗？”

The surgeon, a bit surprised, walked over to the mechanic, who was busy working on the motorcycle. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag, and said, "So, Doc, take a look at this engine. I open its heart, take the valves out, fix 'em, put 'em back in, and when I’m done, it works just like new. So how come I get paid so little, and you get the big bucks? I mean, we’re basically doing the same work, right?”
那个外科医生，有点意外，他走到修理工跟前。修理工正在修理摩托车，他直起身子，在一块破布上擦了擦手，说：“医生，看看这个发动机，我打开了它的心脏，取出了阀门，然后修好了再放回去。当我做完这一切，它就和新的一样。那么为什么我的报酬是那么的少，而你却能获得很高的薪资？我是说，我们做的工作基本一样，不是吗？”

The surgeon paused, smiled, and leaned in closer. Then, in a quiet voice, he whispered, "Try doing it with the engine running."
那个医生顿了顿，笑了笑，凑近了轻声地说道：“你在发动机转动的时候试试。”
